How to be Saved!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

The sad fact is that if we do not take action to receive the forgiveness of our sins and the life that God gives us through the Holy Spirit, we are doomed to eternity in the lake of fire.  The good news is God does not want anyone to perish and wishes all people would come to change their minds to believe in Him so that they could be saved.  God has a plan to save you that was designed to make everything as simple to understand as possible. We all sin because we have inherited the tendency to sin; that is, it is our nature to sin.  God sent His Son, Jesus, so that our conscience could be clean and clear in order to receive the Holy Spirit into us.  This is salvation and eternal life.  When we have Jesus, we have life.

Jesus died on the cross; an innocent man (the Son of God) dying for all of the guilty to show just how much God loves us.  Then, God raised Jesus from the dead to show that the penalty of our sins was completely paid by Jesus.  When the Father is reminded of this act of love that Jesus, His Son, showed; His sense of justice is fully satisfied. God has ever before Him what Jesus, His precious son has done.

Jesus was willing to become a man even though He was God's Son. Because of His great love, Jesus was willing to live a sinless life, totally denying Himself any life independent from the Father.  He died a shameful and painful death on the cross to destroy the evil things the devil had done in us.  Because of the great love Jesus showed toward us and toward the Father; He is totally satisfied.  All we have to do is remind God of His Son, Jesus', death on the cross; and there is nothing left to come between God and us.  We are clean by His judgment and can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit who is the very life of God into us.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have life.  We must have God's Son, Jesus.  We must receive the forgiveness of our sins. We must receive the life of the Holy Spirit into us to be saved. Now, when we receive the Holy Spirit, we can understand so much more than we could before.  We can see that it is our nature to sin as a human, but we also realize that God has put a new nature into us by the Holy Spirit who He gives us through Jesus.  By God's Spirit operating in us daily, our souls can experience this new life and nature.  This is called being sanctified or being made holy.  As we walk daily in union with Him, the old nature that has a tendency to sin is replaced by a new nature that cannot sin. What a great God!  We should wake up every morning with thankful hearts and lips toward God and Jesus.

A prayer:

Father, I thank You that just like Jesus, I can call You, "Father", because You and Jesus have loved me so much and shown me your plan to save me.  I can truly call Jesus my Lord because now I know Him to be one with You. I want to be one with You and Him by your gift of the Holy Spirit. I thank You that I can receive the Holy Spirit and become saturated by the Holy Spirit because of Jesus' death for me. Please make it so in my life. Praise You and thank You. Amen.
